Unfortunately, most people don’t realize this until it’s too late — they lose or break a treasured ring, necklace, or bracelet, and come to us about valuing a repair, remake, or replacement that is now based on outdated numbers.

In this case, we must reference current appraisals vs. those done in the past and then source a replacement or do an overhaul or complete restoration of the original piece.

In all instances, pictures of the items are very helpful, but if they’re not available, we can work with a full description.

If you’re facing this type of unfortunate situation, reach out to us right away. We’ll contact your insurance company within the first week of filing the claim. From there, it will take anywhere from an additional week to 10 days to obtain insurance approval for a repair or remake — sometimes longer if items need to be specially sourced. The full project may take another 2-4 weeks depending on what we’re doing. In all cases, we’ll provide regular updates as we go along, and keep you apprised about your piece through every step in the process.
